Pobierowo as a lido
The
beginning of sea bathing is specified to 1907 year, when a farmer
Frohreich built a hotel called "Seeblick". You can see this
building in the crossroads of Mickiewicz Street and Grunwaldzka Street.
It was rebuilt and right now it is used as a guest house for employees
of Szczecin University. Other families settled down on the west part
of town. The amount of buildings was becoming bigger and bigger in
the neighborhood of the hotel, later appeared a pork-butcher's shop
and a bakery. About 1939 Krause - the owner of the mansion gave the
businessman from Berlin-Gervais about 1500 hectares of wood in Pobierowo.
The businessman divided Pobierowo in the way, that there were about
1600 m2 of building area + 200 m2 for roads in every hectare. The
price of half a hectare was about 663 Reichsmark. Thanks to intensive
advertisement and fast developing bus connections from Berlin to Pobierowo
the town developed very fast. The bus left every Saturday in the very
noon and came back to Berlin in Sunday evening and a cost of return
ticket was 12,75 Reichsmark.
Pobierowo in the very short time became the favorite place to rest
of people from Berlin. Lots of houses were built here in the middle-war
times. There was a house owned by Himmler in the near Bialobudz town
(Baldebus) just right off the road that leads toward Rybice that was
given to Eva Braun. They say then in the house German prominents took
a rest and even the owner came here in company of the leader Germany.
People saw a good place to invest their money, so they built cinema,
clubs, viewpoints etc. That is how the resort was created.
After the Second World War almost the whole resort was given into
hands of " Fundusz Wczasów Pracowniczych" (Employee holiday
fund), that created here the biggest resort of family holidays. In
past there were here only wooden houses and the holidays here were
a profit for the best employees. When polish people started to spent
their holidays at the seaside, they started to build here spas. After
the system transformation some of those spas went into private hands
and many of guest houses were built. It lasts till today.
History of town
From
the history we know that Pobierowo was built in the place of old Slovakian
hamlet from XI - XII century and in documents written in 1368 this
kind of name was mentioned. A chapel was built here in 1590. It is
known that Pobierowo in the past was an ownership of Kleitow ( Kleszczy),
old Pomeranian lineage. Members of that lineage were very important
people in the court of Gryfits and in everyday life. That is confirmed
by the fact that commander Tessen Kleist was a witness of the pact
signed in 1493 in Pyrzyce. It affected heritage of the power on Pomorze
Szczecinskie area. Tessen Kleist was also a comrade of Boguslaw X
in his pilgrimage to the Saint Soil from December 1496 till April
1948. However Jerzy Kleist that was a prince chancellor stayed in
the country to help princess Annie ( Jagielonka - wife of Boguslaw
X) in ruling over Pomorze. In 1628 Pobierowo still belonged to the
Kleist family.
On 10-th of August a widow after captain Anton Kleist, Juliane Elisabeth
sold the mansion to Second Lieutenant Kasper v. Paris. Few years later
the property came back to the first owners because Johan Joachim v.
Kleist bought it back for 8000 tallars. It stayed in a possession
of this family till 1772, when in Berlin died hotelman - Ludwig Leopold
Georg von Kleist. His mother sold Pobierowo to Kleist starost. Next
after few years Pobierowo was owned by another person, from witch
it came back into Kleinst hands. In 1789 a lessee of Pobierowo became
Daniel Rickman.
In 1801 Otto Joachim v. Kleist sold a windmill for 781 tallars 18
groszy 48 peaces of rye and 10 gooses to David Warnkauf. Next in 1803
a burgess Daniel Godferd Ricman inherited the rest of fortune. The
inheritance was accepted by a Prussic King on 10-th of June 1802.
Pobierowo did not have a church only a chapel with a small tower and
bells built by Ewald vol Kleist in the second half of the XVI century.
Few centuries later they stopped to conduct masses. In 1806 a vicar
Dewitz from Trzesacz started coming to Pobierowo and in mentioned
chapel he conducted masses. As a salary clergyman got 9 guldens.

During napoleon wars there was a French division in Pobierowo. After
deth of Rickmann in 1810 the town was owned by his younger son Carl
Davod whose son was the last owner of Pobierowo from this family.
In 1849 lived here a grandson of the buyer Herman Rickman. The property
stayed in his family for 66 years.
Daniel Rickman moved 4 peasants from Pobierowo to a new place, where
he ordered to build houses for them. That is the way how small Pobierowo
was created. Since then the old Pobierowo was called The Big Pobierowo.
In 1896 Big Pobierowo was bought by Robert Krause.

Number of citizens was increasing every year. In the end of XIX century
the amount reached 23 and 5 landlords. In the second half od XIX century
Pobierowo similar as near villages started to loose their rural character
because that arable soil was covered by sand from the sea. You can
find several farmers registered in books till 1886, however in the
very beginning of next century there were only three of them. In may
of 1939 the amount of citizens of Pobierowo reached 376 in 111 houses.
